The Welsh Assembly Government asked Estyn as part of the 2006 - 2007 remit for advice on the impact of the induction and early professional development programme on teachers' job satisfaction and their retention in the profession. This report focuses on whether the provision of the funded three year professional development programme in Wales has the intended impact of helping teachers to establish themselves in the profession and to remain in teaching in the longer term.
