The study was undertaken during May 2007 and February 2008 and aimed to cover issues relating to the impact of Fds as follows: Student perspective: exploration of the factors that led them to enrol on an Fd; their views and experiences of integrating academic and work-based learning and (for students who have now completed their Fd) the benefits of having a Fd qualification; Employer perspective: exploration of factors that led them to make a commitment to Fds; the extent of their involvement in Fds; their assessment of the impact of Fds on their workplace.
