This report presents the findings of an exploratory qualitative study commissioned by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to investigate the experiences of people who had sustained paid employment while experiencing a mental health condition. The study focused on the experiences of people in mainstream ‘open’ employment, rather than supported employment interventions, and did not include people who were self-employed. The study group was comprised predominantly of people who worked for large employers in managerial, professional, administrative or skilled technical roles.
