The effect of having a disabled child on a mothers work varies by definition of childhood disability. The strongest effects can be detected where the respondent reports that their childs disability affects her ability to work (as would be expected), however, all childhood definitions have some negative effect on rates of paid work for mothers - most notably, problems which are reported to affect the childs ability to attend school, and general health reported as not good.
