In 1999, Employment Services (now Jobcentre Plus), under a memorandum of understanding, invited Estyn to inspect the quality and standards of the provision of the New Deal in Wales. The current programme of inspections consists of short visits to individual providers to assess the quality and standards of the New Deal, as well as a series of wider thematic and regional surveys commissioned by Jobcentre Plus.
