
Education and Skills Minister Leighton Andrews has today issued a White Paper to seek views on proposals for a School Standards and Organisation (Wales) Bill.
The new series of anti-bullying guidance builds on the guidance issued in 2003, and provides detailed advice to schools on responding to and preventing bullying. Included are examples of good practice, case studies and scenarios.
This document sets out the statutory requirements for teacher assessment for the school year 2011/12. It replaces the 2010/11 version of the statutory assessment arrangements booklet, providing important information regarding the statutory assessment arrangements at Key Stages 2 and 3 for the school year 2011/12.
The Travel Code has been in effect since January 2010. It is an integral part of the general behaviour policy of all schools and all learners must comply with it. There is responsibility on teachers, head teachers, local authorities and parents to promote awareness and understanding of the Code and to disseminate the message that following the Code could save lives. We have developed some resources that you may find useful, these can be used in assemblies and PSE lesson plans which are appropriate for both Key Stage 3 and 4 and can be found on the Travel Code website. Next BRIT thing is a national music competition for all 11-19 year olds in UK running between September 2011 and March 2012. Young people are invited to upload their audio or video performances to the Next BRIT thing website now. The tracks with the most votes by December will go to an industry panel who will invite the best to perform live at 6 regional finals, including a Welsh final.
