
Since May 2010 when the Welsh Assembly Government’s Advocacy service ‘meic was launched by Deputy Minister Huw Lewis, almost 4,000 children and young people have accessed the service by telephone, text and instant messaging. On Monday 8th November the service will be launched to the under 7 age group at the Welsh Mountain Zoo in Colwyn Bay. Welsh Assembly Government have worked with Calon, producers of the Hanna’s Helpline TV programme, to produce a video featuring the animal characters in the programme discussing their problems and how meic can be contacted. The aim of the conference is to equip education professionals with the skills, knowledge and understanding to tackle gender based bullying in schools. The conference will provide delegates with the opportunity to discuss with agencies the types of support available to schools in delivering targeted programmes and services to children and young people. The Child Trust Fund Cymru scheme is offering every child in Year 1 a £50 top up to their Child Trust Fund account. An additional £50 will be offered to those children from low income families.
