The annual volume ‘Schools in Wales: General Statistics 2009’ presents information on the school sector in Wales drawn from a number of sources, mainly the Schools Census. The number of full-time equivalent (FTE) pupils fell from 471,200 in 2007/08 to 466,100. 98 per cent of pupils attended maintained schools and 2 per cent independent schools.
