A new interactive website - The Learning and Skills Observatory Wales, which will provide a database of research and analysis on education, learning, skills and labour market information in Wales has today [3 December 2007] been launched.
Visitors to the new website, www.learningobservatory.com will have the opportunity to share knowledge and best practice and participate in forums on policy analysis. Users will be able to access up to date information keeping abreast of the latest research and analysis on learning and skills. The database is the only one in Wales with information and intelligence on an all age education, from early years through to skills and lifelong learning.
The Learning and Skills Observatory Wales website will also host regular ‘Learning Themes’ allowing users to consider and contribute to the research and evidence base on particular learning issues in Wales. The first theme will focus on Skills Development. Users will be able to debate and discuss issues relevant to national or regional policy and share their experiences, activities and concerns.
John Griffiths, Deputy Minister for Skills said: “The new Learning and Skills Observatory Wales offers a real opportunity for everyone interested in the skills agenda to get involved, share best practice and access a wide range of research and information on education and learning.
“The Observatory was a key commitment within our Skills and Employment Action Plan 2005 and it is wonderful to see it go live today. Skills are critical to the success of individuals, businesses, communities and the country’s economic prosperity. Our forthcoming Skills and Employment Strategy will be instrumental in taking this forward as we work towards our ambition of creating an outstanding skills system.”
