The latest labour force survey for Wales and the UK - published this morning by the Office for National Statistics - shows that the number of people unemployed in Wales fell again, while total UK unemployment rose again. Last month's comparable statistics showed that seasonally adjusted unemployment in Wales fell by 1,000 compared with the previous quarter. Statistics bulletin
Incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour at 47 Welsh schools have reduced by an average of 89%, with 9 reaching a 100% reduction - thanks to Welsh Assembly Government ‘target hardening’ funding. In 2007 the Welsh Assembly Government announced a £12m three-year grant programme to provide sprinklers in schools vulnerable to arson.

HEFCW has announced the details of a new three-year, £10 million fund designed to encourage universities in Wales to boost their ability to raise funds from voluntary giving. Most college learners believe their course played an important role in getting a job, a Government report has revealed. In a survey of over 4,800 people who had completed a further education course and were out of work when they began their studies, 41% had secured a job two years after they had ‘graduated’, up from 34% the previous year.
