A pilot, involving cluster groups from the majority of local authorities, to extend the benefits of external moderation to Key Stage 2 was completed in January. The outcomes of the pilot have been considered and we are currently putting plans in place for national implementation. In the 2011/12 school year, we will work with schools to provide moderation of end of Key Stage 2 standards in English, Welsh and Welsh second language. It is anticipated that this will be followed by moderation of science and mathematics at the end of Key Stage 2 in the 2012/13 school year. Further information (WJEC web site)
